Advanced session & the Secret Youth Elixir ...by Lídia

On December 5th we had an advanced and hilarious session in English, featured by  very entertaining speakers. We also had the pleasure to have multiple members (from at least three different clubs) with active roles that night. To name a few: Iñaki from Agora Alameda, Dimitri from PSB and Robert from Pride.

To start with, Marion (The president) gave us a quick update to let us know of new opportunities arising for roles in the Toastmasters' committee. Rubén -as Toastmaster's of the night- opened up the session by announcing a couple of changes in the agenda, due a last minute speech cancellation  Despite this, the session run very smoothly and another solution was found. Improvisation at its best!

The technical team that night was made by: Aga, Asun and Carmen. Aga -one of our youngest members (if not the youngest!) promised to the audience to share by the end of the night the secret elixir for keeping us young forever, as she was introducing to new members her role as Grammarian. What a promise, right?! If you want to find out you will have to keep on reading :)

After having Matthias to break the ice with a brilliant joke, we had Jesús starting off with his speech "I love you". He came to the stage with a Absolut vodka bottle under his arm. Yes! he did. We had the privileged to hear him speaking and singing a bit in Russian, while he was sharing a romantic and hilarious story that involved him and her charming and lovely girlfriend Julia. It was a really great laugh listening to Jesús!

"A once in a lifetime experience" by Marion followed. This time she brought us on a roadtrip from Las Vegas to the Gran Canyon. What an adventure, Señoras y Señores! We laughed out loud as we heard the anecdotes of her boyfriend, David and herself during this trip, which turned into a nightmare at some point! Marion had a classy and dramatic closing by falling on the floor! Yes, she did. ;)

Our wonderful team had improvised a humours recorded speech titled: Where is your accent from? by Tarek Said. We had very constructive feedback interventions from our colleagues from PSB and Alameda. Robert run an improvised and participatory feedback from the video we had watch by asking input and thought from the audience. We all learnt that night new ways and tips help us give better feedback to speakers.

We closed the session with prizes! This times given to Jesús, Marion and Marisol for having achieved different milestones on their toastmaster career track! Well done guys.

Aga finally shared the secret she had announced at the beginning of the session, by saying that "whoever is capable of seeing beauty, it will remain forever young".
