New Members welcome!
This week’s toastmaster session started with a happy message from our president Djanira Cortesão: We have 16(!) new members. A warm welcome to everyone! Bienvenid@s!
And
another big event is coming up: The area contest will be hosted by our
club on October 15th featuring Humerous Speeches and Table Topics.
Everything starts Saturday at 10h00 in the EAE Building. Seems like its
going to be a fun Saturday morning with a lot of laughters. Don’t miss
it! Time to keep our fingers crossed for our dear club members Marina
Lussich, Maria Lozano and Joan Fabregat who are going to take part as
contestants. And a great occasion to get to know people from other clubs
too.
After all those good news, the good mood continued with Toastmaster Riccardo
who successfully challenged one of our “brave new members” to tell this
evening’s joke. What a great way wake up your face muscles after a long
working day!
This weeks supportive crew: Marc Expósito Barra as dependable Timekeeper, David Gonzales relentlessly counting “Ahs” and “Ohs” and other kind of “muletillas” as well as Maria del Mont Llosas Losfeld
aka “The Grammarian” who appointed exultante (ES) or elated (EN) as the
word of the day which describes a very positive feeling an intense joy
about something. We are surely elated to have so many new members on
board!
¡A la caza! was proclaimed by by Clara Beltran
who - with her 2nd speech - introduced us to her new hobby
“bookcrossing” which encourages readers to abandon a previously read and
registered book around town and watch it “travel” around. Check it out
at www.bookcrossing.com.
In his 5th speech focusing on body language, Jose Luis Latorre Milas gave us a lively explanation on the evolution of that phenomenon that everybody talks about: La Crisis. Congrats on being have way through the Competent Communicator manual.
Sonia Rosales reminded us about the importance of intellectual property rights protection within her discourse Reconocimiento y protección a las creaciones del ingenio humano showing us how comfortable she is with visual aids in her 8th speach.
It’s evaluation time! General Evaluator Marisol Cifuentes had prepared some marvellous introductions to present this night’s - ladies only - evaluators Marina Lussich, Ana Villar and Tanja Bach.
Table Topics Master Javier Macias
had the great idea to turn the improvised speeches into a live radio
broadcast. But be careful! Only 10 seconds without any words and the
listeners think their radio is broken. So continuous talking and no time
to think before radio master Javier passed his microphone to 3 of
our guests and new members interviewing them very spontaneously on the
benefits of Barcelona toastmasters. Very entertaining indeed!
Thanks
everyone for a very entertaining night which definitely helped me
disconnect from a busy work day!
See you at the contest!
Tanja
