2nd May, 2018. What type of animal you would be and Why?
With our president away, Isabel Montero (our next president) opened the
session.
Paul Conde, Toastmaster, introduced the topic of the day “Why job interviewers would ask you to describe What type of animal you would be and Why?” First reason, It can reveal information about your personality. Second, if they take you by surprise and you’ll screw it up. In other words, they want to see how well you handle high-pressure and how well you can improvise.
The Technical team was formed by Lluis Carreras as Ah-Counter, Jelena Vetockina as Grammarian and Berta Cots as Timekeeper.
The first speech of the evening was given by Sebastian Tunnell, CCM’s second speech, “Three Reasons Why”. Sebastian began to show sweet images of animals and then said why eating animal is wrong. And he explained the three reasons:
- Generate deforestation, pollution and water contamination.
- It’s bad for our health.
- Because it produces animal suffering, they can feel pain and sadness.
- It’s bad for our health.
- Because it produces animal suffering, they can feel pain and sadness.
Then, he proposed us to start the vegan movement, beginning little by little to eat less. After listening Sebastian's speech, I have a doubt. Can an Argentine girl become vegan?
Marc Majoral gave speech number 7th from CCM, “Restoring Hearing”. In this informative speech, he explained how deaf people can hear if they use a cochlear implant. Because this type of implant is connect it with the brain, and it sends waves to the brain directly, then the brain processes the waves and translates the information into words. The call to action of this speech was that, We shouldn’t discriminate people who use this electronic device and for sure they are willing to hear us. Very interesting Marc, thanks!
The third speech was given by Cristina Gil, “Rainbow Technologies”, speech number 9th from CCM. She persuaded us to invest in an innovative technology that allows you to change the color of the wall with a single click. In less than one minute a white room can became blue or purple or green ... Without moving all the furniture away and leaving paint everywhere. Whit this product she sells sensations, happiness, positive experience, with the motto "giving colors to people's lives". Cristina how many investor did you get?
Then,
evaluations began. Sara Tendero evaluated Sebastian. She emphasized the good
structure and the three reasons to support the core speech. And recommend him
to make use of emotions and start and finish with more impact.
María Luisa
Gomes evaluated Marc, she was delighted with Marc’s speech for the chosen theme
and the information given. And She pointed out some areas to improvement, such
as adding the number of people who use the device and to speak louder.
Beatriz García
evaluated Cristina's speech. She remarked that she liked the use of the stage
and the use of humor. Next time, if Cristina uses emotions, her speech could be
more persuasive.
Alexa Meyer
presented table topics saying that practicing impromptu speeches is a good way
to improve to keep calm and think in your feet in these situations. She made us
to see Noa’s Ark not so peaceful as that it seems in history..
Paul close his
role with a conclusion of the topic of the day. If you are asked to describe
what type of animal you would be, your response will allow the interviewer to
gain a deeper insight into how you identify yourself as a person and a
professional. Then, when thinking of an animal that you would be, focus on the
specific job you’re applying for. Felines are considered solitary and
mysterious animals. Horses are strong and able to function alone well or as
part of a team. Monkeys are quick learners. Elephants are strong, intelligent,
loyal to the group and unstoppable. Dolphins
are also intelligent and considered one of the smartest animals.
Anyway,
whatever animal you choose to feel identified, do not forget to be yourself.- Yani
