 THE INNER TRIP
Speech 1 from Emilie Jacquetton -

Emilie for her first Ice Breaker started the session with a brilliant an inspiring speech. I am very much into self-development as part of my job and passion (I am a Life Coach) so I read constantly about new ways of considering your life but I have to say that Emilie has taught me something new and I also thank her for that.

Emilie through her own life experience and adding touch of humours explained us that when you are travelling you are making 2 type of journey. The first one is that : you physically travel and of course open your mind to new experiences, meet new people and also face new challenges. As Emily mentioned, what a feeling after beeing surrounded with your family, friends, receiving all that love during all your life to be alone in a new country. Not to add to the challenge of communication "I had in my luggage: no money and no spanish". Travelling can be amazing but we forget that it is not always easy and this is where " You get the courage to face your nightmares".

And this is when magic happens. You also experience an inner trip. A trip of deep sensations and emotions that you will remember all your life. For all the bad and amazing experiences you overcame and enjoyed. You travel twice. From the outside and also the inside. And also we are not in that place we´ve been once we will remember the way we have felt for life.

Emilie rightly encouraged us to remember what we felt during one of our best trip and congratulates us because we are still travelling then: We are connected with our inner trip.

Then we move on to the 2nd Speech of Eduard Serrano - Colourful Mask

What a powerful message Eduard Serrano offers us! One of those that can actually shake your life for good!! Eduard also for his first speech has been bold as he went on stage with one of this colourfoul mask you can find in the old Venezia. He told us how we  get influenced in life in many ways. We get influenced until we loose ourself and don´t express what we truly are. Even when we would like to be someoned different, what do we do? We tend to admire people who are different and get inspired to do the same thing as they do. Eduard had once a strong feeling that something was missing in his life and couldn´t exactly know what that was.

He went then on a travel to medidate on what he REALLY wanted to do with his life. Then he suddendly realised that he can actually help and share with people his own experience. His own experience of experiencing your uniqueness and to be you own light.

Eduard is actually convinced that most of us we are not the person that we are really are. I must say that I have to agree with that. What a striking thought... if we really ask ourselves what is it that really moves us and get our eyes wide open?? That one of the question that you can´t  really read fast, one that requires attention and you can spend days and weeks on it. The thing is that the question is maybe one of the worthiest you can make in your life.
Eduard then concluded with his speech encouraging us to take the time to wonder:

" Do you want to live with a mask or do you want to live your own life?

We come to the third Speech with Cristina Gil - Are saviours siblings, kids or medicine?

Cristina Gil shared with us a totally different speech from a very interesting and may be controversial question: Are saviours sibling kids or medicine

She first introduced us with the concept of saviours sibling that I have to say I was not very familiar before and this is also a great way to learn new things that I wouldn´t have looked for otherwise.

Savious sibling are children who are born to provide an organ or cell transplant to a sibling that is affected with a fatal disease, such as cancer.

Cristina raised the ethical question of saviours siblings, should it be a banned practice? This is high polemic topic as the saviours siblings may be considered as psychologically harmed and also physically with the high risk of the medical operations. How will be treated the babies just as commodities?

At the end we can make our on mind but at least it is worth to have the knowledge of risks involved in the process to be able to consider it.

Finally we had a fantastic role-play organised by Jelena Vetockina to teach us tips to "Negotiate to succeed"

From this practical and very useful role play first I will remember one sentence "In Business as in life, you don´t get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate"
Jelena taught us tips we may like to use before negotiating such as: knowing what the other party wants, what they would prioritise?

Watching the role play about negotiating for a salary increase, it was suddenly clear to me following this tip from Jelena. The negotiation is nothing to do with yourself. Who in Business would be kindly enough to give you want you want as their own costs only to make you feel better. No. Negotiating is about the other person. What she will get if you make a concession. How her/his life or Business can be better if he/she invests on you. To negotiate successfully I will remember this: prepare your arguments to reach to make the other person what HE/SHE WILL WIN out of this.

Always good things to learn or inspire you at Toastmaster! I look forward to the next one!
